I was doing my internship at Kimukatsu Waikiki which is one of the most popular and famous Tonkatsu (Pork cutlet) restaurants in Japan. There are some our restaurants outside of Japan such as in California, Korea, and Manila. Many people might try pork cutlet before but our pork cutlet is totally different from others. We use only the highest quality pork, which is sliced thin and stacked into 25 layers. These are very juicy and tasty! Also we have a variety of flavors besides original flavor. I guarantee that everyone can enjoy our Japanese style pork cutlet, and also the high quality of Japanese customer service.
Since I am major in hotel and restaurant operation, I chose the Japanese restaurant for my internship site. I was working at the restaurant as a host, food runner, cashier, and busser. Since Hawaii is one of the biggest tourist places in the world, our customers are from all over the world such as from the US mainland, Europe, Korea, China, Japan, and Australia. At the first time I was struggling because I have to use Japanese and English at the same time. Also because of our restaurant is Japanese cuisine, the expectation from the Japanese customer is really high so I needed to use very polite Japanese way to talk which I do not really used to use before. However, I was very happy when our guests compliment to our service and food.
When I interviewed my store manager he said he likes to lead people, and I strongly felt that when I was working with him. All of the workers at Kimukatsu are really nice and close each other. I felt like we were doing family business. Everybody help each other and care each other. We always communicate well. I think this is one of the most well-organized restaurant that I have ever worked at. Overall, I really enjoyed working at Kimukatsu Waikiki. I hope you will visit the restaurant soon!
